Card Ministry

Cards are sent to those parishioners in need of cheer. Included would be those in the hospital, nursing or assisted living facilities, home-bound, or simply those people who need to know we at St. Dominic's care.  Birthday cards are sent to M&M members.

Cookbook Ministry

Recipes are being compiled & edited for a cookbook.  Short term goal:  Print cookbook for members of M&M. Long term goal: print & sell a cookbook online that will make cooking for Martha's Meals easy for the volunteers.

Elizabeth Ministry

Services are being offered to moms in need.  Presently the four categories being focused upon are:
1) Pregnancy 2) Births  3) Miscarriages and
4) Postpartum Depression.  This is a ministry which will be expanding as the needs are identified and the resources become available.

Martha's Meals Ministry

Volunteers will have a meal in the freezer or will be able to bring all or part of a meal as needed.  This would be done on a rotation basis.  Beneficiaries would be new moms, bereavement situations, sick, elderly, etc.

Newcomers Ministry

Anyone new to the parish will be welcomed with a call, letter, and personal contact.

Reception Ministry

Receptions are needed throughout the year for events like RCIA, First Communion, Confirmation, etc.  This ministry will provide assistance in those areas.

Spiritual Ministry

Our spiritual ministry offers opportunities for women to experience "Mary" moments in our very busy "Martha" lives of service, moments to sit @ the Master's feet so that we can know, love and serve Him more fully.  The  Spiritual ministry has established these annual events:

• Spring retreat for women of the parish @ Jubilee House in Abingdon, VA (next retreat: March 26-27th, 2009)
• Fall day of reflection for women of the parish @ St. Dominic (2008 date TBA)
• Family Advent wreath event: Families come together to assemble their home Advent wreaths, join in a brief Advent prayer service & blessing of the wreaths, receive home Advent wreath prayer service sheets to take home, to give families a good start to Advent. (tentative date: Sat. Nov. 29th)

Spiritual ministry provides prayer & meditation moments @ other M&M events. We welcome ideas for other spiritual activities. To offer ideas or assistance with any of the listed events, please contact Janel Lange at #246-1570.

St. Francis Friends

St. Francis Friends Ministry is designed to identify those in the parish who can offer services such as light housekeeping, light yardwork, errand running, grocery shopping, etc, and target those who would benefit from this assistance. Martha and Mary coordinates this ministry that is a parish-wide ministry.
